Watching the clock

Taken in the Queen Victoria Building (QVB) Sydney during my Xmas trip to Sydney.

The QVB was refurbished as a 4-level shopping arcade in 2008 preserving many of its original features.

More of the history of the building: https://www.qvb.com.au/centre-info/history-of-qvb

There are two huge clocks hanging in the voids between the levels. This is the Great Australian Clock, at the northern end, featuring the history of Australia in 27 paintings and 33 picture scenes with more than 130 hand carved figurines illuminated by 867 light bulbs. The overall structure has smaller clocks showing the times in major cities. The dome is coated with 23-carat gold and other arts including the clock numerals are also 23 carat gold. The whole structure weighs 4 tonnes, is 33 feet in length and cost an eye-watering $A1.5 million dollars to create.
love it - Happy Holidays Suzanne
