Female Tiger Swallowtail Nectaring

I just learned that the blue above the black edge near the tail makes this a female. Also read that the chunks missing from their edges are mostly from birds trying to capture them. The missing shapes do often resemble a bird's bill.

Really nice capture - just saw my first tiger swallowtail of the year - interesting to learn about the "missing parts" - this one had a few chunks missing, too. Terrific detail on both the butterfly and flower. The colors were great together. Fav
