I've been awol from this site for a few months. Still alive! Saw this gorgeous sparrow today and it was extremely cooperative. It's rare for our area, even in migration.
No wonder you were pleased to see a bird which is rare for your area. There is much talk here in Australia about migratory bird numbers in decline, birds arriving in an emaciated state .....very sad.
