A Nest of Vipers

Found a spot with many snakes today. Took some photos until a man and his son came to fish. These are Northern Water Snakes (harmless but big).

Harmless if I didn't have a heart attack from coming across them - if I know they're there before I get too close, I'm ok with going for a shot - this is pretty incredible. The details on that skin are wonderful.

@milaniet I was actually looking for them, so they didn't surprise me. I agree they can be startling when you hear/see one moving in the wild.
