Turkey Vulture by annepann

Turkey Vulture

The setting sun was lighting up this turkey vulture that was riding the thermals.
Nice shot!
Anne how do you find this camera for capturing action shots of birds in flight?

@radiogirl I guess it depends how good your previous camera was and what you are used to. It seems to focus pretty well on BIF. My previous camera was a cheaper Sony bridge camera, the HX400. The RX10 m4 is so much better than that camera was. If you do buy an RX10, be sure to buy the Alexander White book about it. I like to travel light, so the RX10 has been a great camera for me.

@radiogirl Ok, just checked some of your photos. Looks like you mainly use the SX60. That is similar to what I had before I bought the RX10. You would notice a difference in your photos, esp. wildlife photos (because of the great optical/digital zoom) if you upgraded to the RX10.

Thanks the information Anne, I'm finding my SX60 is slow when I'm trying to capture birds in flight.

@annepann Hi Anne, just wondering if you purchased the book by Alexander White on how to operate the Sony Dsc-rx10M4, they say it would help you learn more about your camera? Did you find it difficult to operate when you first got it?

@radiogirl I would have been lost without the Alexander White book. He not only explains what the various settings/functions do, but recommends what to put them on in many cases.

@annepann Hi Anne how do you find the weight of this camera when out walking with it?
Do you find it heavy?
July 8th, 2020
@radiogirl I was worried about the weight when I bought it, because it is significantly heavier than other cameras, but I found it was not a problem. I have a thick, padded camera strap and I generally wear it crossways across my chest to distribute the weight. To save battery life, you can turn off the wifi. Happy to answer any questions you have as you go along. I will see if I can send you a message with my email.

@annepann oh that’s awesome I didn’t realize how heavy it is!
I was thinking of getting a more supportive strap for the camera.
What do you have?
