Wingstem

My "plant blindness" is slowly ending. Discovered this wildflower growing yesterday. It is native, in the Aster family, very tall with the typical ray and disk structure of Asteraceae species. It has 2-10 yellow ray flowers (that look like petals) & the disk flowers in the middle are in a loose spherical shape. Verbesina alternifolia.
Great capture.

What an unusual looking flower - never seen one like that - like its structure and those little curly tips on the flowers.
