Farewell to a Friend by annepann

Farewell to a Friend

My friend who introduced me to 365 died of cancer last month. She had used her full name in her project, so when I signed up, I used my full name also, not knowing that most people here just use one name. She moved on to other endeavors, including opening up a small photo studio, before cancer narrowed her focus, but I am still here. I am so grateful that she encouraged me to sign up. It continues to be a refuge of beauty and kindness on the internet for me. This site, by giving me a small audience, motivates me to pursue my photo hobby with more relish, which in turn has created more satisfaction in my life. It's one of the several ways in which Carla enriched my life. I will miss her greatly.
What a lovely tribute to Carla - who through you has influenced even more people. I feel your words about more satisfaction in your life - we're more alike in ways other than the camera we use :)

@milaniet Thank you! Your nature photos in my early days on 365 influenced me a lot. You posted the first close-up of a dragonfly I had seen, and I've never been the same since!

Great tribute. This site is so much better than a lot of those that I've looked at. Think it had a lot to do with occupying myself after retirement. Not sure what I would have been doing if I had not gotten on here. Awesome capture.

Anne, I am sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. And your thoughts on 365 and its meaning in your life hit home with me. Even more so this year, which has been such a challenge for everyone. Thank you for your narrative.

A lovely tribute to your dear friend...365 is a very special place/project. I so like that we can ask Q's & reply & I am constantly learning new things. I so look forward to looking/commenting & seeing 'things' I will never see physically on the other side of the world...I so enjoy your gorgeous nature photos Anne...📷📸🦅

Anne so sorry to hear about your friend, what a lovely tribute!
This site is amazing..........I couldn't get on 365 for a few days because of internet issues and I was really missing looking at everyone's photos and what they were up to!

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I lost one to cancer too last month. I joined 365 in 2011, posted for 18 months and then here and there until coming back more regularly this year. It is good practice and I enjoy seeing what my friends are up to as well.
