The common wombat ( the one in the photo ) and its cousins, the Northern hairy-nose wombat and the Southern hairy-nose wombat, are native only to Australia.

@graemestevens well it is also known as the 'bare'-nosed as opposed to 'hairy'-nosed but having been an acquaintance of one I can say that they can be quite impertinent and will bite if they don't get their own way
@eyesmile not a pet...cannot keep our natives as pets....can look after them to rehabilitate and release and can handraise for captive care in zoos and wildlife parks...he was handraised my daughter assisted and we looked after him for a night
