Steam Locomotive 3001 has heritage significance as the class leader of an important type of locomotive that was engaged in branch line work from 1928 until the end of steam traction in 1972.The locomotive is not operational due to the condition of the boiler and is now part of the NSW Government Railways Collection at Thirlmere.
