Double Deck Suburban Power Car No C-3804

In 1963 'Suburban Motor Car C 3804' was the world's first commissioned double-decker power car. It was designed and constructed within NSW at Tulloch's Ltd., Rhodes. Later motor carriages were added to create the eight-car double deck trains so familiar to Sydney commuters.
Double decker trains were introduced to relieve the congestion caused by the rapid increase in Sydney’s population in the post-war period. While effective, they also became crowded as Sydney continued to expand.
Great shot Annie, didn't know that dubbeldeckers were around so early in trains.

I always find the double-decker trains such a novelty Annie. Melbourne doesn't have any, and not likely too cos all the bridges and tunnels would have to be altered.
