@beckyk365 half term is the week children get off from school between the Christmas holidays and the Easter holidays - there's another in the summer term - and another in the winter term - you call terms semesters, don't you?
@anniesue we call them semesters in college/university. Anything younger than that such as high school or younger, is referred to as a grading period or marking period. Grading or marking periods tend to be shorter in length, like 10 weeks.
