I get a lot of birds crashing into the windows of my house. Living in the Bush they must feel the reflection on the window is just a continuation of the trees. Luckily all have recovered fro their ordeal ;-)

@kipper1951 mostly they do get up - which is amazing with the force they fly into the window with, but I'm afraid I popped him into the bin this evening

@countrylassie @bigmxx @harbie I think we all feel the same - and I suspect now that he was a yellowhammer - I'd been hearing his call - but there is silence now

Oh dear! What a shame. Always upsets me when something like that happens. I have mirrors in my back garden that have been put there to give the appearance of arches through to a larger space. But these have killed a few birds so now I had to put pot plants in front of the mirrors which destroys the illusion!
