My friend said that this stretch of the Lancaster Canal is the longest stretch without locks - but I can't remember the area this applies to. England? The UK? [goes to check] ... well it's 41 miles from Preston to 'Kendal' according to the Canal and River Trust - though it doesn't go to Kendal now, having been clipped short at Longlands / Tewitfield. Inland Waterways Association clarifies that the 41 (originally 42+) is to Tewitfield. The extra 15 miles to Kendal could not be accessed without climbing the staircase of 8 locks.
Beautifully captured Annie-Sue love the strong reflections, btw the Lancaster canal is the longest lock free canal in the whole of the UK all 41 miles of it:)
