Restoring the Garden by arkensiel

Restoring the Garden

No gardening for me today although my husband has been doing some of the work, which I cannot do. Today’s picture shows him restoring part of the edge of the lawn, where it meets some of our ‘hard standing’, both of which have been badly damaged by two lots of builders driving vehicles over it.

I on the other hand have not done anything very strenuous. Now that the tiling of the conservatory floor has been completed, I spent a while cleaning the tiles. The tiler is very good, but rather messy, so the ‘grout’ had to be removed from the tops of the tiles, by scrubbing them; the tiling on the floor in the hall and shower room are also complete. The bathroom walls and floor as well as the kitchen floor still need to be tiled. Work has not yet started on the kitchen, the current builders have to finish all the other jobs before I allow them to start on the walls and ceiling; they are not fitting the new kitchen.

Our home insurance renewal arrived this morning and they had quoted £3676.82! Rather a large increase since last year and as we do not live in a mansion, it is no different in size this year than it was last year, so I telephoned them. They had already discovered their mistake, but not in time to prevent the renewal going out; an apology and another renewal with the correct amount has been sent out. They blamed a computer problem, but I suspect it was more of a human error. The good news is that it is only slightly more than last year.
