Leslie's Moon Again by artsygang

Leslie's Moon Again

Someone I follow permitted our arty gang to paint her moon shot which was stunning. https://365project.org/lesip/year-10/2021-02-26 Here is my take on it. I am happy with it but would like the colors to be a little less muddy looking. Still working on how to use watercolors instead of oils. Tell me please any improvements I could have made!♥

@grammyn
@grammyn - how did you manage to make your moon reflection not look like ringo starr? i spent half a day just on that moon reflection and i couldn't make a mirror image. your moon looks 3D-ish. i'm jealous.

@summerfield Blind luck I think! I didn’t really try to make a mirror image. Except for where I put the light on both of them.

Wow! You even added that 'smudge' which is more visible in the reflection of the moon. Gorgeous. I love it! And how the reflection of the vegetation has that vertical movement. Very well done!
Why did the sky get muddy? Are these acrylics?

@grammyn I'm afraid muddiness and a tendency to go green is a fact of waterecolours- they mix and on the paper like they do on the palatte. You have to mix your paints before you apply them and then keep them apart on the paper.

HOWEVER, that shading is perfect for a moonli scene, and the reflections are just sublime. A fabulous interpretation of that moonscene

@lesip Ah my friend! you are too kind. The photo was great and I am glad you like the painting. I need more practice with wtercolors but thank you for the opportunity to try this !
@monikozi I truly appreciate the positive comments Monika. I used watercolors and was trying to make the sky darker. I should have used something other than black to do that I think. I only have a few paints and haven't learned how to mix them well to get the colors I want. Practice!
@kjarn that is really very nice of yo Kathy ! thanks
