Helios

I was so thrilled this morning, when I received a message saying that the package containing my "made in the USSR" lens "Helios 44-2" had finally cleared Danish customs and were now ready to be picked up at our local post office :-D YAY….
I've been waiting almost a full month for this baby to arrive. I just can't wait to play with it...

I did a bit of background checking and since all Helios lenses are marked with a serial number it's quite easy to figure out which year this exactly lens was produced - and my Helios lens was made way back in 1983...

In 1983:
- The migration of ARPANET to TCP/IP is officially completed (this is considered to be the beginning of the true Internet).
- The computer mouse was invented.
- The final episode of M*A*S*H was aired.
- Michael Jackson's video "Thriller" was aired on MTV for the first time.
- Lech Walesa (Poland) received the Nobel Prize.
- The last DeLorean DMC-12 was produced.
- The first Swatch Watch were made.
- Nintendo games and My Little Pony were the most popular christmas gifts.
- The movies "Return Of The Jedi", "Stayin Alive" and "Flashdance" were shown in cinemas.
- "Dallas", "Dynasty" and "Magnum P.I." were some of the most popular TV shows.
- On the radio we listened to Hall & Oates, Billy Joel, Culture Club, Eurythmics, The Police and Toto.
- Sally Ride became the first woman in Space.
... just to mention a few 1983 highlights :-)...

P.S. This photo was created in one single shot using a long exposure + twisting the surface where the lens was placed.

Gear used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 + Olympus MMF-3 Four Thirds adapter + Olympus Zuiko f3.5/35mm Macro.
