Seing a single seagull gazing out to sea always reminds me of one of my all time favorite books Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by Richard Bach. It's a lovely and philosophical fable about a seagull named Jonathan who is trying to learn about life and flight... If you liked the novella Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince) by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, then you will probably also like Jonathan Livingstone Seagull.
I recommend reading it - it's a great little story that stays with you forever.
