The Common Wood Pigeon is a large species in the dove and pigeon family. We have two that visit the bird feeder at work. Normally they forage under it on the floor but now they are getting greedy and have started to it directly from the feeder.
Just catching up with everyones photographs - this is a great woodie portrait. We have a pair who regularly sit in our walnut tree but I've always found it a challenge to get a good photo without twigs in the way - excellent. They actually look quite exotic when viewed like this.
