When I first installed this light on my back porch over 15 years ago, it was shiny new metal. Over the years it went from shiny metal to a daily reminder to update your tetanus shot. It wasn't just a little surface rust, it was the dark red, pitted rust. It actually looked fuzzy with so much rust.
Today, I took it apart. I took an angle grinder with a brass wire brush to it, sanded, cleaned, and sprayed on 3 layers of clear coat. I'm quite happy with my brand new "antiqued" patina finish.
