Around a week ago, I posted an overheat photo of a table covered with old tools. I complained that it was hard to take a nice square photo of a table and adjust my camera settings while holding the camera up over my head.
I figured I ought to have a mount of some sort for that, and based on out little I'm likely to use it, it ought to be cheap.
I dug through my scrap metal corner and came up with a chunk of angle iron that was already the right length, and already had some holes drilled in it that I could re-use. I just rounded the sharp edges on the bench grinder, drilled some extra holes to screw it to a rafter, and picked up a cheap ($13) Arca-Swiss compatible quick release plate to mount the camera.
A quick coat of black spray paint makes it look presentable, and a the blue carabiner lets me safety strap the camera so I'm not depending on that $13 quick release plate to keep the camera safe.
Now I just need something to photograph with it...
brilliant! i was just thinking the other day that i need one of these... not sure i have the wherewithal to make one myself tho... i bet this will come in handy!
