My grandfather just recently passed away at the age of 100. I got a lot of his tools, and the professionally manufactured tools are nice and all, but I like the obviously home made stuff like this. It's an old GE electric motor, bolted to a piece of wood, and wired to a plug with no switch, you plug it in and it's always on.
It's been a long time since my Grandpa was grinding anything, so I had to take it apart and clean probably 30+ years of dirt and dust off it it. The power cord's insulation was dried out and cracked into dust when bent, so it had to be thrown away. It's been cleaned up, it'll get a new power cord, probably with a on/off switch, and since I've already got a bench grinder, I may set this up with a wire wheel or a buffing wheel.
