good grief, this photo couldn't describe the past few days any more precisely--my emotions and thoughts have been in a downward spiral! i am overwhelmed and under pressure, and it does not feel good. BUT after some well-spoken words and precious prayers first from my husband and then from a dear friend, i am encouraged. now i'm working to take those thoughts captive (2 corinthians 10:5) and dwell on what is true (philippians 4:8). it doesn't change my deadlines and pressures, but it does change my perspective.
It is simple and beautiful photo. Prayer always puts things in its proper perspective. Hoping things improve soon. Re: the Amish figures, they are cast iron. Two pieces I bought at an auction.
I think you summed up a lot of things in this photo, including how delicate and fleeting difficult times are and somehow beautifully meaningful in the scheme of things.
I love this. One of my favorite metaphors--so you have turned a downward spiral into a golden spiral! Both beautiful and powerful. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_spiral
The photo is wonderful as it is. I rarely see any real critique on this site, but this is such a beautiful photo I thought I would offer a wee bit. The overall tonality and composition is dead on--wouldn't change a thing, and that is what makes it a fabulous photo. If you did have some software that could sharpen and contrast the shell it would make it "pop" just a wee bit more thus bringing out the spiral. I wouldn't overdo it though. Of course, this is just my opinion--others might disagree completely--but I only offer it because I think it is a really good photo. I can see a white mat around it on a wall.
Just remember: if you ever do reach rock-bottom there are only two directions you can go - sideways and upwards. One is no worse, the other is considerably better.
just gorgeously simple and lovely composition. It's all about perspective. The amount of times I have thought the roof would fall in ...and it didn't. But I know exactly where you've been - first time in ten years I found myself there - chemistry does it too. I've got to get my serotonin back up by more exercise. good luck. Beautiful pic. A fav.
It is a simple and neat picture with the snail tenderness and protection expresses very nicely your feelings. I love this image.

I always feel like this the first few weeks into the new year.
