arborcide by bcurrie

arborcide

the victim: a large, old redbud tree (decidedly ALIVE at the time of the incident)

survived by: heart-broken homeowner; a family of bluebirds who were given shelter by the victim for many years

the accused: the tree service that did NOT wait for instruction as to which ALREADY DEAD trees to remove
booo!! i'm so sorry! i love redbuds, too, especially big, old magnificent ones. very creative way to vent your fury and heartbreak.
hmm ... what's the verdict? do you want zelda mae to come open a can of you know what on them?

August 18th, 2010
love the texture in this one... but poor tree!!
August 18th, 2010
Stumped for a comment on this one, Brett....... :-). Only kidding.
Shame that a beautiful tree was sacrificed to leave such a lovely reminder.
August 18th, 2010
oh man I would be pissed! Such a shame it takes so long for them to grow..
Nice picture though

Great texture on this love it, shame for the tree, here in the UK they have to have a replanting scheme to aid the loss of the older tree's
August 18th, 2010
Sad =( But that's a very creative capture!
August 18th, 2010
Disappointing...but such a good picture. Imagine the stories that this tree could tell.
August 18th, 2010
That's horrible! Redbuds are such pretty trees.
August 18th, 2010
How I feel for you! I go through agony just having trees pruned back, so this would devastate me...I feel your pain! Your photo is excellent, but I don't know that I could photograph the end tale as bravely as you did. Such a sad story!
August 18th, 2010
oh, no! How unfortunate... Mistakes happen. Al least you turned it into a beautiful shot! :-)
August 18th, 2010
Doh. Sorry to hear it, but I love the title and it is a good shot.
August 18th, 2010
Oh, that totally sucks. They need to plant a new tree for you now.
August 19th, 2010
That is so sad. Poor tree.
August 19th, 2010
I'm so sad for you =(
but as usual you took those lemons and made lemonade!
August 19th, 2010
This is horrible !!! You would think that a tree service would 1. value trees; 2. be able to tell the difference between dead and alive; 3. get clear directions BEFORE they start cutting down trees.
I take it that you have made this into a "lesson" for them that they will not soon forget.

how sad! What a beautiful memorial to a beautiful, worthy redbud. Lovely photo.

SO SAD that this tree was taken before its time :(
BUT you did capture some lovely patterns and color that it kept hidden within.
