ugh. today marks day one of my half-marathon training. i have this love-hate relationship with running. hang on, that's not exactly right. it's more of a tolerate-hate relationship. i have to force myself to run, and it's a battle the whole time. but i have to keep up somehow with my overly-active family!! so i'm preparing for my 2nd half-marathon, which will be in february in austin. i ran (and i use that term loosely) my first half-marathon this past march, and i was as slow as molasses--but i finished. i want to improve my time this time around, maybe only as slow as honey...
*this is also a fitting photo for how busy things have been for me lately! i haven't had near the time i'd like to view and comment on all my friends' photos with all the 'running' we've been doing the last week or so!! ):
The important thing in training for a half marathon is the journey. Train so you'll enjoy the day! Love the laces, I need to get some of those for my running shoes :-)
GOOD FOR YOU! i feel the same way about running...my triathlon training includes swimming and biking and then crossing my fingers on race day that the adrenaline carries me through the run :)
no worries ~ I have not posted any pictures!
running and my name are never in the same sentence unless it has something to do with my nose so I feel your pain!! you are always in my prayers and I really do hope we can catch up over a cup of coffee soon or lunch.
thanks everybody! @shauna how about next week!? (: @shay yay you too!! what race are you doing? and what is your 'program'? i'm following the run/walk in the book 'marathoning for mortals'.
ok..we both used the word nemesis today...that is a little odd, don't you think?! I feel the same way about running, but wow for already completing one....and i think it's awesome you are doing it again! have you heard of john bingham? He is very funny, and I think inspirational about the sport of running. http://www.johnbingham.com/penguin.html
It's so funny that we got a laugh out of the coincidence of Matt's airplane wing & mine, too, and then tonight, I've just responded to a comment before coming here and look at your pairing @toasthttp://365project.org/toast/365/2010-09-29 ! I'm impressed (with both of you!) and you, Brett, have such active men to keep up with! You'll do great, I know, and, let me say it again, I'm *very* impressed!
I pray your training and half-marathon far exceed your expectations. That's so wonderful that both you and your husband see exercise as a high priority in life. Keep it up! Nice shoes. Hope to see a running picture of you soon. :-)
Nice photo and it is something you learn to enjoy. I only wish I coud still run. I grew to like running, but then all too early I blew out my knee and back in other activities and had to give it all up. But it is a challenge and it's not for everyone.
Awesome photo! I admire anyone who runs. Ironically I always thought all runners loved it, especially marathon runners. I feel better knowing it not all fun for everyone. I am proud of you for doing the marathon.
Whoo! Go you! I wish I lived closer--I would totally train with you. I have more of a love-tolerate relationship with running. I love the way it makes me feel--I tolerate the pain I inflict upon myself, lol.
These look like nice running shoes, Brett. You'll do great!
Well you have been encouraging me for my cycling, Brett, so i guess it is my turn... hang in there, and persevere through the early (harder) days. And with cool shoes like those you'll be zooming along in no time!
Cool shot. You go girl! I hate to run so much that I don't. I fel the same way about not having time to comment on everyone's photos, I have been so busy.
I am with you ....... I tolerate it:) Cool Running shoes!!

@shauna how about next week!? (:

I have a hate hate relationship with running, I choose to play netball and pretend that it doesnt involve running!
These look like nice running shoes, Brett. You'll do great!
