Look what we found in the feeder this morning. It's a harmless carpet python but I annoyed it enough taking photos that he dropped his breakfast which was a little finch. We went to Townsville for the day and when we returned he was still there waiting for dinner. Four blue-faced honeyeaters were squawking and trying to scare him away. David relocated him down the hill a bit. We will see if he's back in the morning. We are in drought at the moment and people are finding snakes coming into their houses looking for water. Perhaps he came for water and stayed for breakfast.
Oh my word what a fantastic capture!! Nature in the RAW!! Fabulous details of his forked tongue and the birds foot!! I am soooo glad I don't get any visitors like this at my bird feeders!! Fav!
I don't care if he is harmless - I think I would have screamed and run the other way! I hope he finds another way to catch his breakfast! (Awesome capture, by the way)
Doesn't it make you sorry for the finch? A few days ago, as I was coming up from the beach I saw a cat with a finch caught in its mouth and I felt so sorry for the bird. Still a great find and an equally great capture. Fav.
OH MY GOSH!!! That would be hard to watch! Great timing. Assume they are not poisonous? Maybe leave some water in a pan waaaaay far away from the house? Super capture. FAV
@bobfoto Hey, nice to see you here! That's crazy that the dogs don't keep them away. Now that we have no pets the wildlife has gone crazy and creating havoc in our garden. It looks like a mine field because we have a bandicoot that keeps digging holes. The possums eat every bit of fruit before we can get it plus they pee and poo everywhere... maybe time to get a dog ;)
