Old Cape Cod, 22/72, Fifty Years

We spent the day on Cape Cod, traveling slowly down old RT 6A, past traditional weathered cedar shingle clad Cape Cod style houses with white picket fences and stonewalls. Yellow daffodils bloomed everywhere in very cold, sunny weather.

Fifty years ago I was bouncing, not gazing at the sights on old Cape Cod. My friends and I were on a day off from our counselor duties at Camp Kiwanee with friends on an outer Cape Cod beach back in 1971. In those days I was one of the smallest, the photograph was taken by a good friend then and one of the very best now. I love this photo.

Today, we visited, Longnook Beach in Truro and Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown. Salty air, roaring waves and a glorious late afternoon sky were just the birthday gift after this long indoor pandemic stretch. We finished the day with fried lobster at our favorite place in Wareham, a picnic in the car as darkness settled in. Another fabulous birthday.
Wonderful pair of photos and Happy Birthday!
