Day 140 - I think I'm right in thinking this little flower is a forget-me-not, we use this flower as a symbol above a patient's bed to indicate they are suffering from dementia.
That’s interesting, an aptly named flower to signify this horrible disease. Although you don’t want to single them out, it makes communication easier if people are aware. Where do you work Michelle?
@carole_sandford I work at Maidstone hospital on a surgical ward, it's quite hard for patients with dementia to go through surgery, with little understanding of what's happening to them. @louannwarren I love the significance of the name 'forget-me-not' for dementia patients, we are always taught to remember the person once had a full life and to look at the person not the illness @chrisiow I love the colour too, so calming @dsp2 I agree, they are so delicate looking @ludwigsdiana They are so pretty @mandygravil We are trying to raise awareness of dementia in our hospital and now have a dedicated dementia nurse who helps raise awareness in staff and offers information for the loved ones.
Thank you all for your lovely comments 😊
