Relaxing

Another image for the 52 portraits of me challenge.

This week the prompt is 'Disturbing'.

Do you find it disturbing that I can sip coffee while my old apartment burns down?
I can relax here because I finally got the full security deposit back last week. I moved out on January 15th.
I knew I was going to have to fight for it, as others that have rented from the same property management people have posted on 'Nexdoor.com' that they had to fight for it. I contacted the attorney general's office and they told me in mid May that the property management group had agreed to pay the money improperly withheld. They sent the check (dated May 31) on June 25 and I received it (with my last name misspelled) on the 28th.

The flaming window on the left was my kitchen and the one on the right was the living room.

Any time any maintenance needed to be done; I had to contact the city before they would do the maintenance. Sometimes I had to wait weeks, until I learned that they responded when the city contacted them. After I learned that, I only gave them 24 hours before I called the city.

It is so different where I live now. Three days after I moved in, there was insufficient hot water to take a shower in the morning. I called and left a message before going to work. When I got home at noon, the water was hot, and when I came home after work in the afternoon there was a note under my door stating that the water would be turned off at 08:00 the next day, and it would be off until around noon while they replace the water heater.

A great interpretation of this week's challenge word. I'm so glad that your new place is much more pleasant to deal with.

Yeah, don't think I'd worry about the fire either after all of that. What a pain. Cool capture.
