🤞 Home Today

Wow what a stressful few days. A nurse tried putting in a cannula and told her I was a nervous patient, so took same approach as when having a blood test. She tried three times and then wondered why I got all upset when she said about a fourth! No way I’ll have someone else please. Delayed on Saturday the surgeon came and said delayed until Sunday but he’ll put me first 9am. Heard my name to Theatre and the ward hadn’t completed all the paperwork. On the trolley and apparently needed to have a pregnancy test!! At 53 🤷‍♀️ Thankfully it all went ahead.
I’m glad that’s all over and I hope you are doing well

Checking out of a hospital is such a nightmare. I’m glad you are home!

Well done, you were very courageous and I'm so glad to hear it's over and went well despite the hiccups. Rest and relax now :)

They would have had two chances at canulation, I hate it when they think it’s acceptable to keep stabbing! Glad it’s all done.

What a relief Laura…..sometimes they make it worse….I suppose they have to follow procedures! Anyway all behind you now so onwards & upwards!

@louannwarren @onewing I was surprised to find that I was in a cast when I woke up. 2 weeks time that’s removed then a splint for 6 weeks. So. I shall enjoy the rest for twovweeks make the most of it, hubby pegging out the washing and cooking … 😊

@boxplayer Thank you, I hope Dave found the ideas for coping and managing blood tests helpful.
I certainly found the Martin Hewlett anxiety podcasts helped with my Saturday night in hospital. Earphone in and played all night long.

Same with me when I had my operation. I saw the doctor after two weeks, he took the stitches out then I went downstairs to physio and there they put on the splint and gave me exercises to do at home

so glad to hear you are home resting and recovering. Let the healing begin.

@kjarn I'm quite nervous of the next stage of what to expect. Is it very painful and awkward when the plaster comes off and a splint is put on? And does it ever feel normal again?
June 7th, 2023
There was no pain, except the pain of doing physio but that’s typical of all physio isn’t it. My arm felt perfectly normal after about a month. My arm is not normal now as I stupidly had the hardware removed after a year and I’ve had nothing but problems since unfortunately.

@kjarn thank you so much, sorry to hear you have problems after having the hardware removed. Did it worry you having the hardware in your wrist?
June 7th, 2023
No it didn’t. Because I fell at work I was covered by workers compensation so didn’t pay for any of the treatment. The doctor suggested that some people need to get the hardware out at some point so it would make sense to get mine out while all costs were being covered. I so wish I hadn’t agreed as I’ve had nothing but trouble since and I’ve never met anyone who has had to have their hardware removed.
