@happysnaps Gone by evening. The birds love to perch on this long-dead sunflower stalk just outside our door.

I am definitely not ready for snow! So, I'm glad we're that much further south from you that we don't have to worry about it for a while. (o: However, it did provide you with an opportunity for a beautiful shot! There really is something uniquely beautiful about flowers past their prime.

@olivetreeann Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to comment, Ann! For me, this photo is especially eye-appealing. Glad you liked it also! :-) When we lived in PA years back we got some pretty heavy and frequent snowfalls. I remember them very well because Ken worked as a foreman for the PA Dept. of Transportation and sometimes would be out on snow removal 16-20 hours!

@bjywamer It sounds like you were out near Erie or Pittsburgh- we don't get that much snow here (eastern side) on a regular basis- maybe one snowfall per year is huge. The rest are one to four inches and not much to worry about.

@olivetreeann No, Ann. Ken grew up in Bucks County and we lived there for ten years after we got married in 1967.

@bjywamer Oh, now I remember you telling me that- my apologies for a fuzzy mind! I guess I do remember those kinds of winters from my childhood in NJ. And there was one storm when my sons were in High School where the two of them and my husband helped out a friend who had a plowing business in a storm that lasted 2 1/2 days. Jeff was seeing things by the time that storm was over being awake for so long!

Sending smiles to you from my corner of England. Wonder if the snow is back at yours now or if you get a break from it before Winter! We put our clocks back last night, so we are properly in the dark evenings and time for cosy nights by the fire! Love this shot. The last seedheads moving into Winter.

@casablanca Thanks for the smiles sent! It helps brighten up an encroaching winter. Our clocks fall back this coming weekend (October 31st). Well, we did get a brief reprieve from the snow until it fell in earnest a few days back. Thankfully, the temperatures have warmed enough to begin shrinking it down to a fraction of its original depth! I loved this photo, too. Thanks for the compliment! :-) Stay warm, now!
