Well several of you noticed the phone booth in my Whyte Avenue street shot from the other day so I decided to show it to you up close.
And Melody makes such a wonderful model. So the question is how close to the real thing is this English style Phone Booth?
mind you, it's missing a door from the look of it - I'm now going to have to take shots of the inside of our ones, aren't I/ We've got two in the High Street
l think perhaps every body who visits England must have a shot of a red phone booth..lol...hello Melody - my first thought was that it looked like the Tardis ...lol
It's amazing how far and wide these old phone boxes have spread, and what they are now used for. There is one in a small village here in Yorkshire that is used as the village library! My neighbour to the rear of our house has one in his garden. One of my daughters found one on a hillside in Spain.
Love the phone booth! We drove thru Edmonton on our move to Alaska 5 years ago when we were in the Airforce. We stayed at that big mall and hotel. Loved it.
great shot - it's certainly a real one; I believe there are 8 red box models - K6 is the most common, but i'm not certain if this is a K6 or not as there isn't a crown above the doorway! nice find!
Great find and pic, Brian! I've been sitting here trying to remember if I've seen any phone booths lately. I think I'll look for one next time I'm out and about.
well, this is the shot I took of our two a few months ago http://365project.org/shanne/365/2011-11-16 which shows you the door and you can just about see the telephone through the glass. Those boxes are back to back, so you get to see all around in this shot.
This is real, and is just like ours were in the eighties when they all looked vandalised like this. Now we have ugly glass ones which are vandalised and these are restricted to twee little villages and kept in good condition. they were sold far and wide I think, you can also purchase the old post boxes online!
terrific shot - what a magic find! Great model too. Wish melody would have a chat with 'the male' and tell him how it's done. He keeps either running off or making rude hand gestures! You are very lucky!
