Today we took Melody's parents to Canterbury Court Senior's residence. He brought his accordion with him and for an hour played songs for the residents who live on the Alzheimer unit.
What a joy it was to sit back and watch these precious people as Dad played so many songs from days gone by and to watch as many of these people began to tap their toes, clap their hands and sing along to the music.
For many of them I am sure it took them back to a time in their life that was filled with great memories of laughter and joy
I remember when my mom, a senior herself, got a group together and formed a band. They traveled around to the senior center and played for the folks. Wonderful that someone takes the time to entertain these folks.
That is a wonderful thing for him to do. It is good to know that these people still are able to enjoy life to an extent. I here music is one of the best ways to reach them.
Made me so sad to hear about the Alzheimers residents. My husband dies in 2016 at the age of 65. He only had it for 3 years but Alz is a horrible illness specially for the nearest family. Music is a wonderful experience for them. Thanks for the time you gave them.
