I decided to finish off this series with this collage. Starting top left and going clockwise
1. Edmonton experienced a major flood in 1915. If it wasn't for some quick Thinking to place a freight train on the bridge the bridge would have been lost.
2. King George and Queen Elizabeth on a royal visit to Edmonton in 1939
3. Edmonton's Diane Jones Konohowski handing Queen Elizabeth Il the Queen's Baton at the opening ceremonies of the 1978 Commenwealth Games
4. In 1944 Edmonton's Blatchford Field was a staging point for 7900 USAF aircraft making their way into action in WWIl
I trust you have enjoyed this look into Edmonton's past
Ok first, I would have never thought to put the train on the bridge. So thanks for smart people who think fast. Being retired USAF, it was interesting to see the US military aircraft stationed in Edmonton. Also, a little history for you, USAF didn't become until September 1947, these planes are actually from the US Army Air Forces, named in 1941, prior to that they were the US Army Air Corps. Thanks for sharing Edmonton history, I ha e enjoyed it. You make really neat collages too. Fav
