Day twenty-seven of my series on Things Canada is Known For. Today my post is Totem Poles.
Edmonton has a few Totem poles within its city limits. Here are three of them.
Top left is a Totem pole donated to the province of Alberta by the Haida Tribe from British Columbia. It sits on the Alberta Legislative Grounds. It was erected in 1971 making the 100th Anniversary of British Columbia entering into Confederation.
Top right is a Ksan Totem pole sitting on the Government House grounds. It was erected in 1983 for the World Universiade Games held here in Edmonton.
Bottom picture is a Totem Pole erected as a Centennial project in 1967 by the students of Ross Sheppard high school
