Scene of the crime

This is a gynae room! Where I went back this morning for my appointment. I could've done with a flash, but I shouldnt be taking pics in there anyway and didnt want to push my luck!!

I was here 8 weeks ago and they made me come back. They'd done nothing in that 8 weeks and broken their promises of being put on an op waiting list. Thats 5 months so far I've been waiting and getting nowhere with this one hospital. (and over two years elsewhere)
Had a huge row with the doctor this morning she was trying to fob me off.. and she left me to go get the big-wig doc on my request, slamming the door behind her in a strop.
Big wig came in and I asked him outright if he was the man for the job, if he knew as much about my condition as his collegue (I'd done some research and knew he wasnt that good). Started off all pompous and doctor like but I argued with him also, and it ended up with big-wig apologising for the rubbish lack of treatment and being made to wait for nothing.. and he promised to send me for an MRI asap and talking to his collegue to do my care instead, after finally admitting the other guy was the best man for the job.

Seems like a small breakthrough but am appalled that it took me arguing with them and having to tell them why their idea's sucked backed up with real information. Shame its only because I do my research that I know what to say to them about endometriosis, and getting an article together last year that went into the national press, that I understand this unacceptable stance the NHS take and outdated and incorrect info the doctors tell. I feel sorry for the women who take the doctors word.

Rant over. Back to normality and fluffy pics tomorrow.
I'm surprised they act like that knowing of all the legal stuff that can happen to them for malpractise.. we know our bodies , we know something is wrong.. I hate doctors for just that.. "everything is in your head"....... as my condition worsens still have no diagnosis! ..my mother died at 35 because the doctor shrugged her off "she was too young".. and I fear so will I, earlier then later..grrrrrrr.. it just Pi$$es me off! .. YOu done good! follow through :)!!!

@steveh Thanks Steve! I have put two complaints into PALS a couple years ago and heard nothing.. so I find that a bit of a waste of time. They are good - in theory! lol.
November 23rd, 2010
@blightygal o dear sorry, thought it might help,... PALS are on the ball here in the north west, you just need to mention the name & the hospitals sit up!.. it must be a regional thing then, as with the hospitals don't give up thought, keep on at them .. Good luck

@steveh Thanks, you're very kind, I appreciate it :-)

Sorry you are going through this and not getting the treatment you need. I am always staggered at how variable the NHS service can be. When it works well it is so good. It should be like that across the board.

'It's not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference.' You are an inspiration sister! You were your own advocate which is not an easy thing to do. Is it fair or right that you needed an advocate no but that did not deter you and that is amazing! You won because you bothered to get engaged rather than cry in your soup! ; )

Hang in there :)

Good for you! You should be proud for standing up and it does seem like you made a breakthrough. I'm sorry for what you are having to deal with and I hope the next Dr. you see will have answers and be able to help without further delay!

Wow, way to stand up for your health. I hope this begins an improvement for you.

Oh well done Freida for fighting for what you need and deserve! I had to look up endometriosis, it doesn't look pleasant... I hope you finally get the treatment you need! I have to say I am quite shocked by how the nhs operates... Well it is for free which is not a matter of course in many other countries, but to be honest I prefer paying a higher fee for health insurance but being fully covered...

Oh Freida, I hate gynae's....and endometriosis is such a problem for so many, I hope your surgery is successful and it doesn't re-occur too quick or at all, my sister had massive problems with it and it was very luck for her to finally conceive and get my first nephew born two days ago, pic posted today :) Hugs to you and will keep you in my prayers :)

I understand what you had to go through as a few years ago I went through the same thing - endometriosis. I had to see several doctors before I got to see a gynecologist. Had the surgery to see if I had it and turned out I did not but she spotted the culprit while inside and I had surgery the following day to have it removed. The point is why do we have to stamp our feet and go through all this stress just to get heard? Look forward to seeing your fluffy pictures again.

I'm glad to hear you're educating yourself on your condition, and I hope you get the best treatment available. Sorry to hear it's such a hassle.
November 23rd, 2010
Well done you and your informed and determined approach paid off. I would have done exacty the same as you ...after all its your life and endometriosis is bloody painful. Its sickening that women's conditions are barely known by the medical profession. Its only people who complain that ensures changes are made so good on ya!

So sorry you are having to fight to try to be heard about your health issue. I've been there. Yes, even in the U.S. there are big problems being heard when you know there is a serious problem and no one will listen. I, also, had endometriosis. At the time, I was fortunate and received the care and minor surgery I needed. Several years after that when I had uterine cancer I wasn't so lucky. They tried turning me away in the Emergency Room and said nothing was wrong. I threatened a law suit. It took them 5 or 6 hours to finally call a female doctor who seemed to know the symptoms immediately. She did a biopsy and I got a call in 2 days saying they needed to operate immediately. Because of her, I was very fortunate - they removed all of the cancerious tissue and I'm fine. Don't give up the fight - I know it can be exhausting, but you are right, we know our bodies bettern than a stranger.

I am so glad you stand up for what you need and want. You have spunk. Wishing you health with the new focus from the Drs. Nice shot by the way. Glad to see you always have your camera ready!
November 23rd, 2010
Good shot of your day, sorry to hear you're having so much hassle getting the doctors to act. It's ridiculous how much blind faith we put in them really. Good job that you know your stuff. Wishing you all the very best with taking things forward.
November 23rd, 2010
:(. Sorry to hear you are going through this. Must be very worrying for you. Hope you get some resolution soon.
November 23rd, 2010
oh man! That is not an endorsment of NHS. I wish you the best of luck with your new doctor. Germany isn't much better I am in the middle of waiting 2.5 months to get an MRI on my achilles tendon. :/
November 24th, 2010
Good on you for letting them have it. I can relate re the endo I've had a couple of ops and still put up with serious pain every month plus have to deal with the detrimental effects of scarring on my intestinal system. Took years then finally an incapacitating chocolate tumour on an ovary for someone to think it could be any more than irritable bowel in the first place. I hate hospitals...hence my homebirths...which I'm pretty sure is written somewhere on my records now by the reactions I get when I do end up in front of a doc.

It's amazing how even with little history (so far have been lucky) of gynae problems - a pic like this still makes you shiver. Not keen on doctors, hospitals, dentists - anything - too many 'professionals' that don't actually seem to have much of an idea or just want to get rid of you as soon as poss. Hoping things turn out OK.
November 24th, 2010
What a nightmare. Hope it gets better. I always say patients just need to tell the doctors what needs to be done. Usually the patients care enough to research and know better than the doctor.
November 24th, 2010
You go girl! Way to stand up for your rights. You are an inspiration.
November 24th, 2010
I would of lol'd though if the seniour second doctor walked in and busted you taking a pic or two..."err its for a 365 project doctor, but....er....i still want to complain" . hopefully things are moving forward. :-)

November 25th, 2010
@azza_l ha ha, I think I would've lost all chance of being taken seriously! Funny
