Spent the whole day driving around Manchester on a little pilgrimage of The Smiths... going to Salford Lads club, the Iron Bridge from the song 'Still ill', his childhood home, The Holy Name Church from the song 'Vicar in a tutu' and many many more.........
I had a good time, tho not much of a Smiths fan (actually, not at all) unlike my pal and partner.. it was great to see them have fun!

My mate is here for one more day.. the pressure is on to make the last day fun!
Ooh nice! We were here back in November the day we went to Man Utd match. Interesting place...hope you enjoyed the Lowry...I love it in there but never eaten there. Hope this visit by your friend has lifted your spirits. :-) I also agree with @islawight it is very a la @andycoleborn :-)
