the 80's are calling, and they want their tapes back!
I'm doing some much needed spring cleaning and came across my cache of cassette tapes. There was a time when these tapes were my life (in case anyone is wondering, I was born in 1972 and spent my teen years working in a record store and hording music).....now I don't even own a cassette player and haven't for years...
Does anyone know anyone who would want 328 cassette tapes?
This is so cool and I can relate, Krista, except my tapes are video tapes. I've weeded through a lot them and still have many to figure out to do with. I want to copy some of them to DVD.
Deja Vu! I come across a very similar view every time I poke around in my garage. I'm sure I have just as many. And, quite a few "compilation" cassettes that I spent many hours self recording. Cool pic!
I also remember the era of cassette tapes, now long gone. I remember making a tape of music to run to, and carrying with me, while I ran, a bulky Sony tape player. Not sure what you can do with these--maybe some antiquarian collects them? Great pov and crop in your photograph of them.
hi I think your my get pushed partner this week , your get pushed this week , is to capture a reflection of an emotion ............... looking forward to see what you come up with
wow - thanks for the trip down memory lane. It's so hard to part with a fantastic collection but in the end most of mine went in the recycling bin as did an enormous collection of video tapes.
@tristansmum haha! Love the suggestion of seeking out an antiquarian for tapes. However, I don't think that such a person exists yet. I listed these on craigslist and so far I've gotten exactly zero calls! And I'm only asking $25 per box (two boxes total).
@rachelwithey of course I did! And they were always plastic junk that the drawers would always break and you'd have to wrangle them back into the slots.
@jocasta I fear the same fate for mine. It is weird how something that was such life molding can be so easily discarded. I've held on to mine for so long, but I don't really know why. Oh, wait...I know why. My car still had a cassette player in it that I was driving in 2007!
Wow! When I taught preschool we would take anything to create art.The kids loved pulled them Apart for collages. And the empty plastic cases were great for specimens. If the kids found a dead butterfly, for example, they would put it in the case on top of some white cotton. We has a bunch in the science center.
Only just parted company last month with my car that took tapes. Though for the last few years we had a cheap gadget that allowed hubby to play from his ipod
