We need new rulers. by blueberry1222

We need new rulers.

Every day, it's just a barrage of bad news. It's almost really hard to pick out the worst news of the day.
Today, my pick for the worst news is this event: http://occupydemocrats.com/2017/02/01/house-republicans-just-voted-allow-dumping-coal-waste-rivers/ . Why are things going in this direction?

its headshakingly unbelievable, just shows how corrupt and morally bankrupt those who seek power are... the kaliyuga

My feeling exactly, Krista.

Sadly, these gentlemen are doing what they promised to their voters and what their voters voted them for...

I don't know how to respond, but when you hand over power to a bunch of narrow sighted billionaires, led by a buffoon, short term greed will follow.

Looks like it would have been colourful

@kali66 I had to google kali yuga...and just spent a quantity of time reading about the concept. The ancients had a way of seeing into the future.

@domenicododaro I know. It's so sick that half of this country are exactly these people. Proves how sorely America needs to focus not on military spending but on education.
February 4th, 2017
@jerome very much in the vein of the children's story, 'the giving tree'.
February 4th, 2017
@jack4john you nailed it.
February 4th, 2017
@pusspup the world was more magical back then, for sure. Once we lose that sense of wonder, the world becomes more grey.
February 4th, 2017
@cathieg hopefully the pragmatic will find a way to fight back.

B+W colour processing works so well here

@blueberry1222 I do totally agree. Yet, I'm so confused because America still is America! And I'm unresolved whether the Nation is great "notwithstanding with" or "because of" its political system...
February 4th, 2017
@domenicododaro I totally hear you. However, I fear that what is happening here is going to prove to be a complete hijacking of the system and we as Americans are too oblivious to notice until it will be too late.

American quotes, wisdoms and sayings...

We do not want riches. We want peace and love.
Red Cloud, Oglala Lakota Sioux (1822-1909)

In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.
Iroquois Maxim (circa 1700-1800)

When all the trees have been cut down, when all the animals have been hunted, when all the waters are polluted, when all the air is unsafe to breathe, only then will you discover you cannot eat money.
Cree Prophecy

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.
Chief Seattle, Duwamish (1780-1866)

@jerome Sadly, our country does not listen to the wisdom of the Natives of this land. They never had, they never will. All those quotes are so poignant and so piercing.

Bep
I totally agree with you, Krista.

For years I have known that "everything is connected." It is such a basic concept that is ignored and we will pay for that ignorance.

“The Americans of the United States do not let their dogs hunt the Indians as do the Spaniards in Mexico, but at bottom it is the same pitiless feeling which here, as everywhere else, animates the European race. This world here belongs to us, they tell themselves every day: the Indian race is destined for final destruction which one cannot prevent and which it is not desirable to delay. Heaven has not made them to become civilized; it is necessary that they die. Besides I do not want to get mixed up in it. I will not do anything against them: I will limit myself to providing everything that will hasten their ruin. In time I will have their lands and will be innocent of their death.

Satisfied with his reasoning, the American goes to church where he hears the minister of the gospel repeat every day that all men are brothers, and that the Eternal Being who has made them all in like image, has given them all the duty to help one another.”

Agree.
They love haves and profits and from ``more`` they never got enough.
February 4th, 2017
@365karly1 So true. We are all one planet.
February 4th, 2017
@nochrisis It's our nation's worst legacy. Actually, all of Western man's history plays like that around the whole world. Why Western man thinks he is so damn entitled baffles the mind.
February 4th, 2017
@pyrrhula I hate this world of greed so much.

An interesting photo and a very interesting read in your comments. Can't imagine how - when so many see the problems so clearly- we got where we are - in a very scary mess. What is it that appealed to so many that put us where we are - it's hard to believe so many are so short sighted.

A beautiful photo amid an unrelenting mess... I find the situation so incomprehensible mind-boggling...
February 5th, 2017
@milaniet I totally find it mind boggling as well.
February 5th, 2017
@northy It defies reason.

Wonderful shot. Love the black and white. Great quotes in this thread also.
