wildfire

Oddly, this scene reminds me of a Japanese landscape scroll (like this: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/395120567284185370/ )
This is a really strong image hell- is in what it tells us and yet has a beautiful abstract quality. Maybe potis needs to re think his ideas on global warming.

On one side, the wild fires destroy human property. On the other side, the forest floor is being cleared of debris, the home of pine bark beetles , that will destroy the forest more fully than the fires. Some trees need fire to release their seeds so that the forest can be replenished. Look at the rebirth of the forests in Yellowstone following the 1988 fires.

@byrdlip I totally agree, but the truth is that there has been such bad forest management throughout the years that all of our forests are weak and overgrown due to the policy of prolonged fire suppression. Letting the fires burn now is the best policy....

Awesome

Oddly, this B&W image conveys the drama and tragedy of this event more effectively than a colour shot might have done... excellent!
