In a way, this image summarizes the whole Covid pandemic to me. Here was this little barrel cactus ready to take on life, and then the whole word burned around it.
I had a hard day at the hospital today. Being around all this covid shit is making me negative and it's pissing me off. I have changed as a person within the last year. I used to be a hell of a lot happier. I need to somehow get the old me back. I've been trying, but then I go hiking on my favorite trails and see that they all have burned. The negative spiral just continues and it feels like a vicious cycle. Sorry if I have seemed so negative in the last few months....it is because I have been.
Compelling image. The pandemic has definitely changed many of us in some way or another and I’m sure being surrounded by it all day at work is especially wearing. My thoughts are with you.
I can truly understand your narrative and feelings, there does not seem to be too much to be positive about. Hoping it will change soon, you are not alone. What Walks said.
Krista, I think we are all feeling some of that in whatever way it is weaving through us. I'm in Australia where we have so little covid, but we had the horrific fires in 2019. So I feel a huge impact! I can't imagine exactly where you are at, but I hear you and it is real - the world has been changed forever.
Krista, the clouds are grey but they have a silver lining. You still have photography and some of your photographs do show hope and some positivity. Hang on to photography. You'll get through.
It's good to be down. It means that the only way you can go is up.
PS. (I intend this to be a joke, pardon me if it is out of place.)
In these times, it is quite good to stay negative... just saying...
I think I'd be more worried if the last few years/months hadn't changed me. These are unprecedented times and we need, as a society and species to heed the warning calls and change our priorities and be more respectful to our planet 😶 On a more personal note I'm sorry to hear you have lost your happiness temporarily, but I am sure you will find it again in time. Very evocative photo by the way x
I'm so sorry Krista... I have a cousin who's a gynaecologist and two other relatives in the NHS, they've all had a tough time of it as well. I hope things will look up for you as vaccinations are rolled out!
Krista, I'm so sorry for what you're going through... I read this post and then went out in the garden and shouted lots of very bad words on your behalf. Keep safe and strong... you're much loved on here.
I like this picture Krista, with the little cactus alone on the middle of a hostile desert. Hopefully the vaccination program will provide relief soon.
Making out the best of it is the only thing we can do. Let it not invold you life and future. No night gets so long dark it always brings you a new day. and light. Respect and admire you.
I think we all understand your anger and frustration especially since you must deal with this not only as a person who lives on this planet but also at your job- no rest for the weary. Anger is a crippling emotion. It's good that you're aware of it and desire to change that. For me the only antidote these days is my faith. If I didn't have that I think I would be hopeless. But your little cactus is a symbol of what can be. In spite of all the destruction around it, it is growing- it's very much like hope. I do hope that you will be like this little cactus- emerging from the ashes with new life. Everyone here is very much behind you!
I think it's perfectly natural to feel the way you do. You'd be a bit odd if you didn't.... I think this is such an overwhelming situation we'd be kidding ourselves if we didn't acknowledge it. Curl up and be kind to yourself when you can x

I respect the work you do.
