Sierrita mine in the distance

A large copper mine. Originally developed as an underground mine in 1907, the Sierrita open pit has been in operation since 1959 and is a copper and molybdenum mining complex. According to Wikipedia, this mine has one of the largest copper reserves in the US and in the world. I didn't know that until I just looked it up. Seriously wow.
Wonderful capture and scenery, great info too.

Fascinating bit of history. Makes me wonder what will happen when we've used it all up!

Cool picture! At first I thought that there was a lake in the distance, but it turns out to be a copper mine
