@monikozi Right?! It's kinda crazy. Arizona has high elevation, so it gets a lot of snowfall. That's the main source of water for the trees.

Great capture. It was a love/hate relationship with the pines in Flag. I've left them for leaves to rake and Douglas Fir which have shorter needles and smaller cones. They are also fast growing, 40 years v 150 years for a Ponderosa.

The ponderosa pine environment is my favorite. Would not have guessed that Arizona would be home to the largest forest.
