Dismal by bluemoon

Dismal

Not much picture taking happening today....yesterday was beautiful and in the 80's but today was a bit dismal with the temps back down in the 40's with a wind advisory and rain sprinkles on and off all day. I took a handful of pictures on the way back from school this afternoon but none of them were anything to get excited about so I took this one and converted it to black and white and upped the contrast...it pretty much represents today's damp & dreary weather. On the bright side I think it's supposed to warm back up to 60 by Wednesday! :).

Great shot! Love both the B&W and color, but I'm leaning toward this one because I do favor B&W and the clouds seem more ominous in the B&W!
April 5th, 2011
Like it better in b&w. :)

Oooh, yeah...I do like it in B&W more so than the color. Very pretty. Yeah, stinkin' weather today, huh? Oh, well...Joe Winters on KCRG says close to 60 tomorrow. ;^)

With such changes in temps, it is easy to feel a bit down.

This is a very beautiful and dramatic photo!!! We have rain today, too, and it's in the 40's... I KNOW spring is coming, but it's sure taking its time!!!

@dejongdd Thank you Deb, no HDR but I did boost the local contrast in Picnik and added a little sharpening. I haven't even tried HDr yet other than the Picnik effect. I've had Photomatix for a couple months but haven't been brave enough to try it yet. One of these days I'll have to give it a go! Yes it was a crummy day but probably seemed worse because it was SO nice yesterday!

I like both photos. We had a stormy twenty four hours. I was even pelted with a bit of hail when I went out tonight. But, the skies were so gorgeous. I think you should be brave and try that Photomatix. You will be fab with it. I am learning to see these simple scene in a new way by following your photos.

Nice job with the black and white. Interesting how much that can change an image. I've been doing that more lately and pleased with the results.
