Red Headed Woodpecker

I can count on one hand how many times I've seen one of these. Plenty of Downy, Hairy & Red Bellied Woodpeckers but rarely see these.

A pair nested here spring/summer 2021. It was such fun! They were back last spring, but hard as he tried to get her to stay, she had other ideas and they nested elsewhere. I saw one the other day. I don't know what their plans are ... it would be fun to have them back.
