Longsands illuminated by bmnorthernlight

Longsands illuminated

My favourite beach, only 15 minutes by car. It is beautiful any time of the day or night - and thanks to the street lights above not so scary when it's dark!

Tynemouth Longsands

Edit: Oh, and the thing in the foreground is not a beached whale or seal or anything even more sinister, it's a rock!

Thank you all for looking and all your fabulous comments! I feel very lucky to live so close to stunning beaches and coastline. I also feel very lucky to have all you guys cheering me on :-)

@adeakinyede Thanks ever so much :-) Lol nothing sinister at all, just a rock - it's there all the time...sometimes covered by the tide ;-) I did think afterwards this might look a bit worrying!
November 17th, 2011
@mortisa Thank you :-) it's the main beach in Tynemouth looking towards Cullercoast and Whitley Bay. It's called Longsands and I think the little bay just below the priory and coastguard is King Edward's Bay.

@claireuk @pwallis Thank you both so much :-) Yay! *skipping with joy*
November 17th, 2011

November 17th, 2011
@mortisa Just the perfect spot for a stroll isn't it! And a great spot too if you enjoy watching fit surfers getting out of their wet suits ;-)

@bmnorthernlight will definitely have to come up for a visit now : )

Right place, right time, nicely seen
November 18th, 2011
Good exposure and nice scene. I have an urge to line things up so would have squared this so that the lights run vertically and probably cropped some from the bottom. Pity about the beached immature killer whale.
November 18th, 2011
Cropping just above the rock would make it more fairytale, having the rock (which resembles a washed up body of some kind) adds suspense.
Bottom line: Great photo, tells a story!

@bb @cliffs Thanks for the suggestions both! Have done a cropped version here: http://365project.org/bmnorthernlight/bits-n-bobs/2011-11-18. Would love to hear what you think!
