Spent most of the week holed up with the lurgy and finally felt like using the camera again today. Lasted about 30 minutes before I wanted to crawl into my bed again...Have been thinking about @tabbycat 's photoschool and the week's theme. If you know me, you know that my space is filled with lots of beach finds from the last 20odd years. Not all always on display, as they have a tendency to gather dust...all those stones hold very happy memories from time spent with friends and family on the beaches here, in Ireland, North Germany and Iceland. I tend to create my own space in an unfamiliar place as soon as I have some treasures from the beach or the woods.
Used mainly photoshop for processing and played with curves, which I haven't done much yet. Would've liked to have more energy to keep re-building this fragile tower and play around with focus a bit more, but that's all I had today ;-)
Thank you all for taking the time to view and comment in true 365 style! Truly appreciated! Have a wonderful weekend :-)
Lovely theme shot and fantastic tones!! Composed beautifully and great sentiments :). Hope you feel better soon, I'm managing to just fight mine off ;)
Hahaha! Couldn't recall whether or not I'd used it before with you! Wot John Said. He always says what I am thinking , so I save myself a bit of typing now...
this is gorgeous - great shot - there are loads of these types of stacks in Nepal on the routes to the highest treks - they are put there for good luck. The teztures are great and love the tones. Hope you feel better soon x
Great shot, perfect comp and perfect for the theme (which this week has got me stumped!)
Sorry to hear you've had the lurgy...hope you feel up-and-at-em again soon! Working in a school I can sympathise with the constant battle against germs...
@sparkle Thanks Juliette! I never knew that or at least don't remember my sister telling me this about Nepal. I remember being on the Faroes and navigating by stone cairns in the fog...bit of a challenge to say the least to stay on course. Also made me a bit dubious to trust other people not to rebuild the stone stack somewhere else...
@peterdegraaff Thanks Peter! There is something really meditative about building those piles of stones. We found a couple of places on our travels in Iceland where people had built lots of them with lava rocks. It was so amazing against the bleak landscape
This is just gorgeous!! Love everything about it! I moved to the beach last year. I've never been a beach person and never lived by the sea, but I'll have to say i'm really loving it! I especially love going to the beach at night and just listening to the waves ... :-)
Great shot for the assignment too! Jeni's take over for me now...
@tabbycat Thanks for the fave Tabs! Isn't it the most magical sound! I've always loved the sea, but it's hard to come by living in nearly land-locked Germany...I chose this corner of the UK to be very close to it.
Will miss your gorgeous shots & sharing of knowledge! Have a great time at photog school and all your other projects!!
First, congrats on the PP. This is lovely calming and al those words. I just want you to know that where I live they take a pile of lovely rocks like these drill holes down their middles and bolt them together with something pretty at the top or make them into lamps and other things and give them VERY expensive price tags. Love the muted hue.
We love building these sorts of rock sculptures on the beach, and I've been thinking about doing a shot like this, it's in my notebook for the summer hopefully. Nice work here, +Fav and will follow now.
feel better soon!!
