Okra pollen by bobfoto

Okra pollen

oh I am eating Gumbo, I'm eating Okra Curry, I'm even eating Okra Stirfried... but still the flowers come. Oh won't they stop?
WOW!! What a cool, intriguing photo :)

Very interesting shot. Reminds me of some of Kimberlys food shots of late!

@canberrabec - thank you 'berrabec :)

@dcr - Kimberley must have heard you???

@callalilla - Thanks Kimberley... I dunno if the flowers are edible but the fruit is... kinda.

@dcr Oh I hadn't thought of that but the tiny little bubbles do remind me of the umibudo!

Love gumbo. Love Okra. Nice interesting, abstract photo of pollen.

@myla - thank you myla.. Okra is ok, you just got to season it well :)

Seriously? This macro is insane!! Love it, even if I don't like okra or even know what an okra flower looks like! (:

That pollen looks like gold flecks! Such a great macro, especially with the golden background. Who knew okra buds were so shiny and hairy at the same time!

Stunning macro

This is a first for me. I don't even know what okra pollen is, but you have made it beautiful!

@clarissajohal - an Okra flower looks like a Yellow Hibiscus flower! Or do you get Marshmallow Weed? Well it looks like a yellow one of them!

@aj1268 - they are when you stick your lens right in there!

@maggie2 - thank you Margaret :)

@annamaker - simple answer, okra pollen is the teeny tiny yellow balls which the bees will pick up with their legs and drag around to other flowers to help pollinate. Which obviously they are doing a good job, because I am getting plenty of fruit off my one bush at the mo'!

@bobfoto Oh cool! I know what a hibiscus flower looks like, thanks!
March 19th, 2011
@clarissajohal - so imagine a yellow hibiscus flower but the petals do not open up all the way, they stay kinda like a tube, inside that tube is a red centre (seen in this shot on the top left corner) and from that centre a little stalk protudes with a little fuzzy head and covered in yellow pollen.

Well, I stuck the camera down the tube bit and took a photo of the fuzzy head!

I've not seen / eaten okra - so this shot is intriguing. Fabulous macro.

@murnane - thank you Marg. :)

@hillcrest @harshbrown - thank you Cheryl and Harsh :)
March 21st, 2011
Wow, that is a close up! I've never seen or tasted Okra!
March 21st, 2011
@bella_ss - it's kinda like squash... with a green grassy hint to it.
March 21st, 2011
Looks like glitter! I'm still yet to try Okra but if it's like squash I might not worry about it lol
April 8th, 2011
@amz87 - stronger flavour then squash really. You should give gumbo a go at least once.
April 8th, 2011
I'll have to look into that. I'm assuming there's more than that in Gumbo?
April 11th, 2011
@amz87 - chook, rice, stock, onion, prawns, saffron, bacon, capsicum and all sorts of tasty goodies...
