frog eye by bobfoto

frog eye

so many froggys... this guy was inside and just sitting on the floor. So I took his photo and then let him go outside, and then let all of his friends outside!
woah, extreme!

March 29th, 2011
Thank you Sarah :)
March 29th, 2011
Brilliant shot! Not sure I'd guess what this was without the caption. Such an amazing colour and texture.
March 29th, 2011
Love it! How on earth did you get him to stay still? Beautiful eye.
March 29th, 2011
Wow crazy looking eye there!
March 29th, 2011
Holy moly that is a good shot!!
March 29th, 2011
The eyes on frogs are amazing! Great close up J!
March 29th, 2011
So does he have a pupil which dilates or is this how the eye appears at all times? Fabulous golden eye.
March 29th, 2011
Mate, this is freaking awesome. You have excelled today. Congrats.
March 29th, 2011
Wow, I've never seen such a detailed shot of a frog eye! Nice focus and colors! Fav!
March 29th, 2011
Okay, I'm back looking at it again.... such a good shot...
March 29th, 2011
Amazing....
March 29th, 2011
Incredible shot, Jason!!
March 29th, 2011
awesome detail, on an awesome eye. oh, your known in our house as 'the frog guy (on 365)'.
March 29th, 2011
@murnane - yeah well seeing as this guy was in a room with fluroescent lights AND a torch shining in his face, his Iris is that little black slit. Outside in the dark, that slit will expand to cover almost most of his eye! It is quite interesting to watch the iris move...

@otprofsp - I asked ever so nicely. ;)

@alia_801 @callalilla @canberrabec @bremi @vaderkip @scatcat @frameit @drumchic - thanks everyone, you know this guy was very patient. He sat for quite some time while I changed lenses, poked different lights at him and finally decided on this shot.... I got some interesting fish eye shots of his face and that lens was just millimetres from his nose.

Peaceful patient frog.

I'm happy to call myself a frotographer now.
March 29th, 2011
I shall now call you a frotographer too.
March 29th, 2011
frotographer is a perfect word for it. You're definitely one :)
March 29th, 2011
But are you a professional frotographer?
March 29th, 2011
@vaderkip - yes, I have as of just recently sold a copy of the "Dark Prince"... so if being paid is professionalism, then I have just made my first buck towards a Phase One with 60megapixel sensor!!!!

@canberrabec - I'm sure you will 'berrabec.

@alia_801 - thanks Alia :)
March 29th, 2011
@vaderkip - and you'll find the Dark Prince here:

March 29th, 2011
Great capture, and amusing comments to see the lengths we all go to for the 'shot' ... glad to hear the frog was so patient!!! Love it's eye and all the detail!
March 29th, 2011
@zferrie - I too can't believe how still he sat. At night, these guys are moving and active, so I expected him to leg it as soon as I was off changing lenses, and I did have the lens soooooo close to him!

lucky.
March 29th, 2011

Beautiful shot, the eye looks like it has been lined with gold leaf
March 29th, 2011
Fantastic close-up. All my froggies seem to have disappeared at the moment. :-( Maybe the snakes I had here on Sunday frightened them all away.
March 30th, 2011
Your shots are incredible. Who knew a shot of a frog eye could be beautiful, but it is.

@emmar84 - that's the hardest part... getting the photo is easy but making the frog sit still while I apply gold leaf to its eyeball has me tearing my hair out!!!

@flamez - thanks for the fave Flamez, and the frog is very quiet and moves silently, so you may have missed him because of the way he blends into his surrounds???

@bobfoto Hey - I see you are in Townsville too! Seeing as we are having lots of rain here - I hereby request a macro of a raindrop! :-)
March 31st, 2011
@ali1974 - Ali, if you look closely here, right behind the head of the D'fly you will see the raindrop I was aiming at... just that the bug got in the way.
