Wow, so pretty! Don't think I've seen these little ones before.
June 19th, 2011
@bella_ss - you will hear these guys well before seeing them... they are very musical and their voice will tell you if you are a danger or not. They nest underground! And they do not like Goannas.
June 19th, 2011
beautiful bird!! wonderful!
June 19th, 2011
I don't believe that's really the sky, you've painted a wall haven't you?!!!
June 19th, 2011
@jenrobcarr - Thanks Jennifer :)
June 19th, 2011
@houdiniem - we have no option for the next few months... here it will be blue skies or blue skies. It can get monotonous after a while, you know just hanging out for a clod to pass.
June 19th, 2011
He's so pretty!
June 19th, 2011
@callalilla - Thanks Kimberly #:0)=
June 19th, 2011
What a beautiful bird! I especially love that little extended tail feather!
June 19th, 2011
We had a little patch of sky that looked like that today....
June 19th, 2011
@jannaellen - a short tail feather means that she is a she, the boys have a longer one.
June 19th, 2011
@canberrabec - its all we have....
June 19th, 2011

A wonderful shot of a beautiful bird.
June 19th, 2011
Wonderful shot and great detail, especially since you say it's cropped!
June 19th, 2011

June 19th, 2011
great shot! love its colours against the blue sky!
June 19th, 2011
@canberrabec - it gets monotonous.

@denisedaly - thanks Denise. :)

@paulaag @mjalkotzy - Thanks Paula and Martin, I do enjoy our time of year when the weather is like this.

@altadc @steeler - Thank you thank you.

@clarissajohal - its those little feathers that make her look like a dart.

@digitalrn @rbobh69 @mandyj92 @hillcrest - They are a gorgeous bird indeed. I always stop to try and get a photo when they're around.

@houdiniem - I once visited New Zealund; the Land of the Long White Clod and ever since they're clods.

@judithdeacon @mimma_blue - Oh yeah, the original shot is framed with tree branches, so I cropped a little (leaving a few tree limbs in view) and the bird wasn't quite large enough, so I thought "lets crop it so no branches are in view" and yeah, I reckon this is on the Edge of Cropness.

@kammy - haven't seen a grey clod for days now...
June 19th, 2011
wow, that is a wicked pointy beak!!! this bird is really pretty! i especially like the color just under the eye! nice capture!
June 19th, 2011
Gorgeous. I was chasing some around not long ago but they wouldn't stay in shot long enough for me. They are so beautiful!
June 20th, 2011
Beautiful bird shot! What a beak and what a tail!
June 20th, 2011
I love these little guys. At one stage we had a little flock of them that used our neighbours avocado tree as a look out for bugs it was great watching them while we enjoyed our afternoon beers.
June 20th, 2011
The mad crop you do
Leads to some very great shots
For which I give props
June 20th, 2011
@kdimagery - Thanks Kd, the colours of this little bird is very cute!

@girlie - Thank you Robin, I find chasing them only makes then run further... you need to wait and let them come to you... hee hee hee.

@rach_who - Sounds perfect.

@aj1268 - Bravo Paula!
June 20th, 2011
Nice capture of an awesome bird. I'd love to see him eat a bee.
June 20th, 2011
the crop works or we'd never be able to see his colors. nice pic.
June 21st, 2011
@mhensley - It is pretty cool to see these guys catching insects... they are quite the acrobatic bird. And their nests are underground? Very odd.

@molizard - Thanks Molizard, there's no way i could crop it anymore, nor any need really. :)
June 21st, 2011
@bobfoto Are you asking me about their nests?
June 21st, 2011
@mhensley - Sorry Michael, I should have used an exclamation mark. They do nest underground, but I just find that so odd, it feels like I should be asking a question!!!!
June 22nd, 2011
Lovely focus and composition!
June 22nd, 2011
Great picture Jason, the mad crop worked out nicely! :) This is such a cool bird...all your birds, bugs & plants looks so exotic compared to what we have and I'm learning so much by checking out your photos! :)
June 22nd, 2011
LOL Okay, I was confused.
June 22nd, 2011
@zferrie - Thanks Zoe :)

@bluemoon - They are a gorgeous bird, but I find the birds and wildlife in countries other then mine, exotic too!

@mhensley - No worries Michael.
