Bougainville Bamboo Sing Sing Group

At the end of October, I wandered down to the markets and the Bougainville Bamboo Band were in full swing. Always impressive.

@gerry - Thanks Gerry. :)

@ozziehoffy @anazad511 @ira @moirab - Thanks ladies, the little yellow stars/flowers were always such a stand out on these girls!

@geocacheking - Cheers Cameron. :)

@agentzuckerguss - she sure is!

@tctime - Thanks TC :)

@houdiniem @myautofocuslife - because she was often singing and dancing... sometimes the best time to capture a nice sharp shot was in between songs, so these were often moments for the performers to either check someone out in the audience, OR check with the head performer to find out which song or dance was coming up next. Hence the concentration.

@fjh - thank you for the fave Francesca :D

@kandernob @joy26 @grammyn - Thanks ladies! :D

@jannaellen - It is cute to watch them backstage applying the make up here, there are not many bristles on the brushes and they are well practised at putting this simple pattern on each other. And of course there is a lot of adjustment of grass skirts and laughter and chat!

@filsie65 - Thank you Phil, I made an interesting comment the other day to an ex-365er who has posted some very pretty portraits on her blog. And I do appreciate your sweet words. :D

@btorrey - the green background looks amazing here. I was always a little disappointed that I never got a great shot of these girls with their bright pink grass skirts... maybe December?

Curious to what she's thinking
October 31st, 2012
@filsie65 - I said how she managed to always capture the "pretty" and my portraits were all just a suspended moment in time.

@tthompsonca @turning_40 @daisy @kjarn - Thanks Ladies :)

@rvwalker - Why thank you Ross, cheers!

@heidimatter365 - I think she's keen on seeing what song/dance is next.

this is a fav - - the focus and clarity is just brilliant. I cannot wait to buy your book when you get it done.....i'm sure there will be lots of text to go with all the magnificent photos...(yes, i am already imagining the structure of your book for you)....lol - - really nice work!

@sticksandstones - Thanks Jenny, was thinking last night about maybe producing a CD with a collection of spoken word pieces to accompany the book... that or an iPhone App?
November 2nd, 2012
well, that is the great thing about developing a book - you can do whatever you want to do - present the information in the way that "feels" right to you. As for me, I have a dumb phone.....and barely know what an "App" is....lol. I would always much rather hold an actual book in my hand and turn its pages slowly - - but i'm a dying breed probably.
November 2nd, 2012
@sticksandstones - Well I am a little confused... sometimes I think I may have written too much and the book might get lost between trying to be a photography book or being a story book with pretty pictures. Hmmm, only 2 more months to go.

Beautiful girl and candid. Looks like she has a feather in her hair.
November 2nd, 2012
@hellcat - yeah she had a little clump of feathers up there.
